This research will focus on the environmental and health impact of solid waste management in Saki West Local Government. Efforts will be directed to visit some houses, shops, markets, and commercial areas etc. and dumpsite located within Saki west LGA. The study will be limited only to those who generate waste and dispose waste, either to public or private waste collection service and authorized collector identified by the people, customer/ client and part of the Board and waste management.
Solid waste management is a major problem that has reached alarming proportion requiring drastic measures. The increasing difficulty in managing wastes in Nigeria has become one of the most intractable environmental issues ranking after water quality control Awomeso et al.(2010). The uncontrolled generation and disposal of these wastes have deteriorated our otherwise conducive urban environment. Virtually all cities in Nigeria are characterized by heaps or mounting of solid wastes. The health implications of this development on our urban streams, health and socio-economic development leave much to be desired.
