ABSTRACT
This work examine the Role of NGO’s in the Socio-Economic Empowerment of women, the Case of Global Medicare Foundation Buea, in Eyumojock. Generally in Cameroon, although Non-governmental Organizations do one thing or the other to empower the life of women, some women seem to continue to face enormous barriers to succeed in their socio economic endeavors and have remained exposed to all kinds of poverty. They have limited access to productive resources, and they are disproportionately affected by poverty, violence, discrimination and are not still given the opportunity to leadership positions in the different domains. 60 questionnaires were administered and 60 collected. Data collected was analyzed with the help of software like Excel, through which arithmetic calculations with the use of averages, means, and percentages were demonstrated on tables. Findings indicates that, GMF play a very pivotal role in women empowerment by providing basic education, legal aid, and protection of women’s rights. Findings also shows that despite all that GMF is doing, GMF face some difficulties in their socio-economic empowerment of women which include funding problem, poor reliance. Women also face some difficulties in accessing the service of GMF like discrimination. The study recommends that the government working hand in hand with NGOs and all other stakeholders for the socioeconomic empowerment of women, should provide the facilities needed to empower by NGOs. Suggestions have also been made for further Studies
