ABSTRACT
This study was intended to study the relationship between crime and traffic congestion in oshodiapapa axis of Lagos state. This study was guided by the following objectives; To provide this missing link by way of making good attempt at identifying the factors which are responsible for traffic problems in Oshodiapapa express way; To recommend ways of easing traffic congestion in Lagos; To examine the major causes of road traffic congestion in Lagos. The study employed the descriptive and explanatory design;.Secondary data sources were used and data was analyzed using the regression statistical tool at 5% level of significance which was presented in frequency tables and percentage. The study majorly focuses on the statistical relationship between crime rate and traffic congestion in oshodi apapa axis of Lagos state.
The study findings revealed that there is a relationship between crime rate and traffic congestion in oshodi apapa Lagos; based on the findings from the study, efforts should be made by the Nigerian government and stakeholders in ensuring the minimization of traffic congestion in major Nigeria roads as failure to do so would lead to an increased crime wave.
